It was last Saturday, at the Photography Gallery of the Art Center of S. João da Madeira, that the photography exhibition 'Silêncio' and 'Silêncio II' by Ana Pinho Vargas was inaugurated.
The work 'Silêncio' had already been published in the 25th edition of the contemporary art magazine Artist Close Up Magazine, in 2024, and the series 'Silêncio II' was also published in ISSUE16 of the contemporary art magazine AL-Tiba9 Contemporary Art, in the same year. The author, who won the international Artist of the Year 2025 Prize from the Effetto Arte foundation and curators Salvatore Russo and Francesco Saverio Russo in Florence, in January 2025, was also invited to participate in the XV Biennale of Florence in October this year.
In addition, two of her paintings, 'Untitled', are on display in the exhibition The Body Language, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, in Venice. Ana Vargas, photographer and painter, has a master's degree in Photography from the School of Arts of the Catholic University and a degree in Photography and Visual Culture from the IADE Faculty of the European University.
She comes from a family of musicians, her father being a pianist and composer, her mother a harpsichordist and music teacher and her twin brother being a double bassist for the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra. The artist studied music from a young age, starting with the violin, then the piano and the harpsichord.
Now, Ana Vargas' two photographic series are present at the Art Center until March 22nd of this year.
